Keira Knightley, known to many as Elizabeth Swann from the pirate hit “Pirates of the Caribbean”, will take on the lead role in the dystopian sci-fi thriller Conception and will be seen as an official of an authoritarian government.
As Deadline reported on October 26, 2023, the well-known Hollywood actress will play the protagonist in the upcoming sci-fi film Conception.
The story will revolve around a government that interferes in family matters and keeps a watchful eye on child-rearing.

A dystopian Britain that has families in its sights
What will Conception be about? Conception will take place in a near future and show a Britain where the government controls the upbringing of children.
At the center of the story is Rita (played by Keira Knightley). She is a civil servant who supports the authoritarian education system of Britain … Until one day she personally feels the effects of the system’s rules and her role as a mother is jeopardized.
Who will direct Conception? Alongside Keira Knightley, Camille Griffin will also be involved as a screenwriter and director in the new sci-fi thriller.
She has previously collaborated with Knightley on the film Silent Night, a dark comedy centered around a family Christmas dinner that takes place on the eve of the apocalypse.
Regarding her collaboration with the actress, Griffin said: ‘I am lucky to have found Keira. She is a wonderful ally as much as she is a talent. I plan to create a unique and exciting film together.’ (via Deadline)
Johnny Depp, the main actor of Pirates of the Caribbean, has been criticized as ‘bloated’ by a well-known actor, as you can read here with our colleagues from Moviepilot.
Both producers for Conception, Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler, have already worked on the director’s Christmas film and will also be involved in Griffin’s new project.
Who else will be seen in Conception besides Keira Knightley is not yet known. The casting for additional roles is currently still underway.
