With Steambirds Alliance (PC), a new MMO is on the horizon where you fight as a bird in heated air battles against killer cats. But beware! With your demise, you have to start all over again! The MMO will release on Steam in just one week.
What is Steambirds Alliance? The MMO allows you to take on the role of a bird. However, it doesn’t fly itself; instead, you pilot a heavily armed airplane. From a bird’s eye view (heh), you steer your aircraft through an open world and fight alongside friends in fast-paced, action-packed battles against malevolent cat foes.
- You control one of 14 airplanes, which you unlock gradually
- Each aircraft has its pros and cons
- You equip your plane with over 100 weapons and upgrades
- Enemies await you everywhere in the open game world
- You team up to defeat the enemies together
- You also fight boss monsters together
- There are secrets hidden in the game world that you need to find to receive bonuses
- “Bullet Hell” – Bullets are flying everywhere, and you must dodge a lot of projectiles
- Permadeath – if you die, you have to start from scratch
- It is a cooperative game. PvP is not planned for now
Birds Against Cats
What makes the game special? Aside from the unusual and quite bizarre scenario of “birds in airplanes against killer cats,” the permadeath aspect is interesting.
You must always proceed carefully and tactically, which is anything but easy in the sometimes chaotic and fast-paced battles. If your character meets its end, you start over – but you learn from your experiences for the next fight.
As it is a so-called “Bullet Hell” game, the gameplay can end up in chaos.
MMO Releases on August 22 on Steam
When is the game coming out? Steambirds Alliance will be released on Steam on August 22.
What will it cost? Steambirds Alliance is set to launch as a Free2Play game.
What do the players say about it? Some players have already played in a beta. These players talk about a fun gameplay experience that invites them to engage in battles repeatedly. However, the controls are still somewhat criticized, and new players are said to have a hard time finding their way around.
Nevertheless, Steambirds Alliance appeals to the beta testers. Additionally, the developers are still working diligently on optimizations. Starting August 22, you can try it out yourself and pounce on the cats as a bird.
