If you are not at the gamescom 2024 to play Crimson Desert for the first time, you can also watch the boss fights available in the demo here at MeinMMO.
Wait, wasn’t there just a boss fight trailer for Crimson Desert? Good catch! Even before the local gaming fair started, an official video for the new action RPG from the creators of the MMORPG Black Desert Online was released, showing the fight against Weisshorn.
Now the developers followed up with three more videos, in which the remaining bosses from the playable gamescom demo are shown. Before we present these to you below, a quick note that you can expect more Crimson Desert during our livestream program for gamescom 2024:
Three bosses, three fights, three trailers
In the open world of the continent Pywel, you may unexpectedly stumble into a boss fight. This is illustrated in the first video featuring the Queen of Stoneback Crabs. In the nearly four-minute trailer, hero Kliff meets a certain Diederik at a hill where gemstones apparently grow. The plan: to remove the gems with a pickaxe.
However, as soon as the two step onto the hill, it turns out to be the namesake back of the Crab Queen. She does not find it amusing to be attacked with a pickaxe and immediately counterattacks – with blows that leave no stone on top of another. Kliff can only win the fight if he climbs onto the back of the gigantic creature and targets its weak spots.
What does the second trailer show? The next video featuring the Stag King is significantly longer at eight minutes and presents a humanoid boss adversary for the first time. In a fortress ruin, the giant greets you while sitting on a throne. He earns his name from the stag antlers he wears on his head.
After a brief greeting, the blades of both fighters clash, which you trigger through a QuickTime event. Follow-up combo attacks and targeted dodging maneuvers occur. The Stag King uses jump attacks, throws, and rolls. He can also charge his shield for heavy blows.
Just like in the fight against Weisshorn, you must also bring several health bars to zero here, with each phase change accompanied by a short, well-designed sequence. In addition, the Stag King expands his arsenal, for instance, with a charge attack. Take a look:
And what about trailer number 3? In this one, Kliff faces the so-called Reed Devil in a cornfield, apparently as part of a bounty quest. He is very agile and regularly disappears during the fight to ambush the hero.
Additionally, the Reed Devil uses charged sword attacks or throws several throwing knives at Kliff from a distance. He also places several totems after a cutscene that negatively affect your alter ego’s perception. So you need to destroy these as quickly as possible.
If you succeed, the Reed Devil attempts another deceptive trick, sending several versions of himself against Kliff. His sword attacks unleash harmful waves against the protagonist, which you should dodge as best as you can. Here is the associated video:
What is your impression of Crimson Desert after the four boss fight presentations and the previous trailers that also showcased things like balloon rides, parkour climbing, siege battles, or taming mounts? Are you looking forward to the open-world adventure? Share it in the comments!
There is currently no release date for Crimson Desert. It is clear that the action RPG is set to be released for PC and consoles and will have a global launch. Unlike Black Desert, Crimson Desert will focus on the single-player campaign, with optional multiplayer content, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2 or the GTA series.
What’s next at gamescom? After the Opening Night Live on August 20, 2024, gamescom 2024 will really kick off in the coming days. You can expect an extremely exciting fair in Cologne, with impressive booths and many opportunities to play. But there will also be plenty on screen, as more streams will be hosted – for example, the FYNG show from GameStar, GamePro, and MeinMMO.
Webedia Gaming (GameStar, GamePro, MeinMMO) accompanies the big gaming event as the official media partner of Gamescom 2024.
