The Lord of the Rings introduces many iconic and important characters, but not every character always interacts with one another. Especially two important figures seem to avoid each other. At least, when considering how often the two speak to each other.
Which characters are we talking about? Hardly any film series has as many iconic figures as The Lord of the Rings. Each has an elaborate personality and a striking design. It is no wonder that there are countless characters and merchandise featuring the entire ensemble.
The interaction of the characters is also always interesting and endearing. One immediately thinks of Legolas and Gimli. However, two characters actually only speak one sentence to each other in twelve hours, considering the Extended Cut.

When do Frodo and Legolas speak to each other? Throughout the trilogy, the two meet quite early on. In The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, several characters pledge their loyalty to Frodo and promise him help for the journey that lies ahead for the hobbit.
Legolas also does this, who in the German version says and my bow
to Frodo (via Moviepilot). This is the first and only time that the two characters speak to each other here. Nevertheless, Legolas remains true to the brief promise until the very end.
The brief exchange between the two sparked a silly fan theory. Fans have naturally wondered why the two never talk to each other. Legolas at least mentions Frodo by name. Frodo, however, does not do this in the films, as Screen Rant summarizes.
Many fans believe that Frodo doesn’t know Legolas’s name and is embarrassed to ask. Another clue is the scene in The Return of the King where Frodo wakes up and is greeted by all his friends. You can see from his mouth movements that he greets everyone by name, except Legolas.
In the books, Frodo knows Legolas’s name.
