Black Desert will receive a new expansion called “Land of the Morning Light: Seoul”. We summarize everything it includes for you here.
What game are we talking about? Black Desert (also known as Black Desert Online) is one of the most popular MMORPGs of all time and one of the best current online role-playing games for consoles. It was developed by the South Korean studio Pearl Abyss, which is currently also working on the single-player RPG Crimson Desert.
“Land of the Morning Light: Seoul” is the name of the latest expansion for Black Desert. It brings a variety of new content for the game, including a new region, new quest lines, and a new weapon class.

What do we already know about the new expansion? The free update expands Black Desert with the new Hwanghae Province. As the name of the expansion suggests, it is based on historical Seoul.
New Content and Access Conditions of the Expansion
In a blog post on naeu.playblackdesert.com, the developers announced four new world bosses, seven group challenges in the Dark Shrine, and twelve new quest lines. According to the colleagues at MMO News, there will also be new weapons and accessories like the “Lord” base class weapons as well as the Asadal Necklace and Asadal Belt.
Unlike in Korea, where the expansion was released on August 7, 2024, this time all group content of the Dark Shrine will be released simultaneously. Additionally, the shrine is expected to feature a unique mechanic, but details have not yet been revealed by the developers.
What do I need to do to play the expansion? To access the new content, you will need a character at level 56 or higher. Alternatively, you can create a new character and select the area as a starting zone, as the developers announced in another blog post on naeu.playblackdesert.com. There you will also find instructions on how to reach the Land of Morning Light with your existing character.
