Pokémon GO celebrates its anniversary and brings along some Shinys and strong bonuses with a fitting event.
What kind of event is this? Pokémon GO was released in July 2016 and therefore celebrates its 9th anniversary in July 2025. There will be a “9th Anniversary Pokémon GO Party” event in the game from July 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM until Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 8:00 PM.
In addition to some new and familiar costumed monsters, some of which also have an increased Shiny chance, there will be a Shiny debut and many strong bonuses.

Which Pokémon is available for the first time as Shiny? During the event, you can obtain Gierspenst in its Shiny form for the first time. To obtain Gierspenst, you need to use the coin pouch, for which you must connect Pokémon GO with Scarlet or Violet. You can also receive the monster at golden PokéStops.
The evolution of Gierspenst, Monetigo, is among the best attackers in Pokémon GO of the Ghost type.
What new costumed monsters are there? A total of 3 Pokémon will be available in new, costumed variants during the event. These are Bisaknosp and Bisaflor with party hats and Gierspenst with the 9th anniversary coin. This variant of Gierspenst can also appear as Shiny.
What bonuses are there at the event? There are some active bonuses during the event:
- PokéStops can become a golden PokéStop without using a Gold Lure Module
- increased chance of encountering Pikachu with cake hat and Evoli with party hat as Shiny
- Gierspenst with the 9th anniversary coin can receive a special background

- Friendship levels increase faster when opening gifts, trading Pokémon, and through joint battles in raids and gyms as well as trainer battles against each other

Which Pokémon are available at the event? You can encounter costumed event Pokémon both in the wild and in raids during the event.
In the wild:

- Glumanda with party hat*
- Schiggy with party hat*
In 1-star raids:
- Pikachu with cake hat*
- Evoli with cake hat*
All monsters marked with an * can also appear as Shiny.
Free research and field research: All trainers will receive a free, limited-time research during the event. Rewards include Stardust, experience points, and encounters with Bisasam with party hat, Woingenau with party hat, and Gierspenst with the 9th anniversary coin.
Additionally, there will be field research that can also reward you with encounters with event Pokémon.
Masterwork research: For $4.99 (about €5), you can also obtain a new masterwork research called “Fulfilled Wish”. Here you will receive a Shiny Jirachi. If you purchase the research before the event, the following bonuses will also be active during the event:
