After a feature in Pokémon GO was tested, it is now available to all trainers. And there’s an additional reward as well.
In Pokémon GO, there are a variety of activities that you can participate in. There are various rewards that you can receive, ranging from experience points to stardust, items, and Pokémon.
Recently, a change for an activity in the game was tested. Since the test was obviously successful, this change is now active for all trainers in the game. Additionally, a new reward has been added.
Find groups easily, receive more rewards
What is this change? Since the end of last year, there have been weekly challenges in Pokémon GO. You have 7 days to complete a specific task with up to 3 other trainers to receive rewards.
Last week, a change was tested for the weekly challenges for some trainers, allowing them to group up with other trainers to tackle the challenge.
The test of this change seems to have been successful in the eyes of the developers of Pokémon GO – as this very change has now been rolled out to all trainers worldwide.
How do I use the feature? If you want to test the feature, follow these steps:
- click on your avatar head on the map
- go to the
Groups
tab - click on
Choose Crew
for the weekly challenges - select
Find a Crew for Me
and click onJoin Crew
What new reward is there? In addition to the existing rewards of 6,000 stardust, 7 friendship points, and 20,000 XP, a new reward has been added: an encounter with the Pokémon Zwieps, which has a secret evolution.
In the current weekly challenge, you need to cover 30 km as a group. If you want to tackle this, perhaps with a group of unfamiliar trainers, it might be worthwhile to take a look at the current contents in the game: all events in January 2026 in Pokémon GO.
