Trainers, as a surprise, the Pokémon GO developers at Niantic have now released a new legendary Pokémon. Ho-Oh was already active as a raid boss in the past and is now back since May 19. And this time it comes with a special feature. You have the chance to catch Ho-Oh as a shiny monster.
How long will Ho-Oh remain in Pokémon GO?
Ho-Oh is among the legendary raid bosses and is of the flying and fire type. In the announcement, Niantic explains that you can find this legendary boss in Pokémon GO from May 19 to June 7. Ho-Oh appears worldwide along with Latios and Latias, which remain split across their regions.
With a bit of luck, you might encounter a shiny Ho-Oh. And here’s the good news: According to initial reports, the shiny Ho-Oh has a catch rate of 100% – It cannot escape from you.
It is rare for Niantic to directly mention shiny monsters. Otherwise, it was rather a surprise after bosses rotated or new monsters became available to catch them as shiny. The community quickly spread the word and shared it with screenshots. There was an exception when the first shiny monsters, shiny Magikarp, were released. The developers announced them via tweet.
Perhaps Niantic will continue this type of announcements and explain more directly in the future when we can expect new shiny forms in the game.
