Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has answered 10 questions from fans. One asked what happened during a certain incident that will never happen in the anime.
Warning, spoiler: The following article contains a spoiler involving Trafalgar Law, Blackbeard, and Koby.
What is this incident? A lot has happened during the two-year time skip. So much that Oda couldn’t manage to show it all in the anime. One of these events is the Rocky Port incident.
- Trafalgar Law heard that one of the Poneglyphs was on the pirate island Hachinosu. To get to it, he hijacked a huge passenger ship called Rocky Port.
- It turned out to be a smuggler ship that was doing business with the pirate island. The king of the country running the smuggling was also on board.
- Law got into a conflict with the pirates. Blackbeard and Koby joined him, forming an unusual alliance.
- Trafalgar Law was subsequently appointed a Warlord of the Sea, Koby received the title of a hero, and Blackbeard gained control over the pirate island Hachinosu.
You can view Oda’s complete tweet on pewpiece’s X account:
Law, Blackbeard, and Koby teamed up to annihilate the pirates. Blackbeard wanted to eliminate the pirates to claim the island for himself, while Law simply wanted the Poneglyph. Koby, on the other hand, is part of the Marines and was glad to stop the pirate smuggling. He protected the civilians during the battles.
Law appears, among others, in the anime film One Piece Stampede:
The unusual alliance will never be seen in the anime
Why will it never appear in the anime? Actually, this incident could have been a good flashback in the manga and anime. However, Oda added that this event will never be part of the main story and thus will never be seen in the anime. The reason is that it would simply take too long to draw the incident.
As One Piece is nearing its conclusion, the mangaka no longer has much time to devote to such past events. He must now weigh carefully what he will still show in the manga.
Is this a significant loss? Besides an exciting battle and an unusual alliance, we miss the appearance of a former pirate from the Rocks pirate crew. The previous ruler of the pirate island was Ochoku, or Wang Zhi. He was once a member of Rocks D. Xebec.
That’s why it’s a shame that we won’t get to see one of the former members of such a historically significant pirate crew. The pirate crew was indeed involved in the God Valley incident, where many pirates and Marines fought: One Piece confirmed the theory of a German YouTuber with one of the new chapters
