In Dune: Awakening, the developers released hundreds of changes in the major August patch. However, one new feature does not work and causes amusement among players.
What is this new feature? In addition to the hundreds of changes and new features of the major August update of Dune: Awakening, some bugs have crept in. A prominent bug is currently causing some laughter but also annoyance in the community.
The new search function was supposed to simplify the marketplace of Dune: Awakening. As is common in other games, one should simply be able to enter the name of the desired item and find it. But the new feature does not work.
Here you can see what you can expect in the future from Dune: Awakening:
Broken feature sparks discussions
What does the problem look like? On Reddit, user theJSP123 shows the problem with the search in a video. There, he enters the term “Firestorm” to find the “Firestorm” weapon. Instead, the game suggests him all sorts of other items like “Stravidium Fiber” and “Regis Disruptor Pistol”.
Only after he has scrolled through the list of items does he find the desired weapon. This problem repeatedly appears in other examples in the video. Additionally, the new function has removed some filters because they were replaced by the new search function. As long as the bug persists, it is now harder than before to search for something.
How do players react to the bug? As often in Dune: Awakening, there are two groups of players with differing opinions. While most can laugh about the absurdity of the bug, especially because such a common feature ends up so broken in the live game, the other group sees it as a failure of quality management by Funcom. Players write on Reddit:
- wittiestphrase: “It’s so wonderfully broken that I don’t know what to say about it. Things are now categorized differently. I had gotten used to the clumsy way of doing things and at least knew where to find things.”
- Stunter740: “I swear, they test nothing.”
- Deadlynitro: “On the test server, it only worked with the first word of the item, but that’s no excuse for the Firestorm problem.”
- reboot-your-computer: “Jesus Christ, if you ever doubted whether there is quality management at Funcom, then this is the clear answer.”
- Dog_Breath_Dragon: “Player: ‘f-i-r-e-s-t-o-r-m’. Game: ‘Blaster!’”
Although the patch has been available to players on the test server for 2 weeks, the developers did not bring the search function smoothly to the live server. Especially because the problem is easily reproducible, many players doubt the testers at developer Funcom.
On August 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM, the developers of Dune: Awakening will apply a hotfix to the servers. What changes this brings and whether it will also fix the search function is still unclear. However, one change that made it to the test server was blocked by the players: Dune: Awakening is getting the major August patch today – All info on the server down and patch notes for version 1.1.20.0
