The anime of Dandadan adapts much from the manga, but not everything. In the ending of the first season, a small cat appears that fans of the anime may not be familiar with.
What kind of character is this? In the first ending of Dandadan, a small gray cat suddenly appears. In a few frames, the Turbo Grandmother, an evil Yo-kai currently in cat form, encounters her.

She cares for the abandoned kitten and suddenly dances around with it. Much more is not revealed about the two, but the story shows what a soft side the otherwise stubborn Turbo Grandmother has.
Where does the kitten usually appear? The story of the two is a bonus chapter of the manga. In the anime, the story is only told through the few frames in the ending, which deserved much more airtime.
Turbo Grandmother is actually a grumpy Yo-kai
What is so special about the story? The Turbo Grandmother is actually a feared Yo-kai. She takes possession of Okarun, the protagonist of the anime. With her brutal and vulgar manner, she seems like a Yo-kai that one would rather not deal with.
And she actually wants to maintain this reputation. In the manga, she first walks past the kitten until she finally gathers the courage to take the little creature in. Even then, she wants to hide her soft side from others by secretly stealing milk for the kitten and telling no one about it.
But Seiko Ayase, the grandmother of protagonist Momo, discovers the kitten and even says that the Turbo Grandmother “is still alive.” This means that she may still have feelings that she had even before her death and transformation into a Yo-kai.
In the anime, her soft side is also hinted at occasionally. As a Yo-kai, she comforted the souls of deceased girls who died a cruel death. This shows that she actually possesses something like a heart – even though she is more interested in the reproductive organs of her victims.
Even after her transformation into a cat, she retains her rough nature. Thus, she is one of several characters that make Okarun’s life difficult.
