In a shooter set to release on Steam in 2024, you can talk to NPCs and receive answers through artificial intelligence.
What kind of game is this? Arena Breakout: Infinite is an extraction shooter that focuses on tactical and realistic gameplay. The game is considered one of the biggest rivals of genre leader Escape from Tarkov and has been playable in early access since August. The full release, including publication on Steam, is expected at the end of 2024.
As is typical for extraction shooters, you equip yourself with weapons, protective gear, and gadgets before starting a round, and then venture into a raid. There, you’ll loot through the map, complete missions, and fight against other players as well as PvE enemies.
If you die, you lose your carried equipment and your collected loot. To survive and save your filled backpack, you must reach one of the points displayed on the map and extract there.

How can you talk to your companions? Arena Breakout: Infinite has posted a new video on the official YouTube channel of the shooter, where the developers introduce the so-called F.A.C.U.L. system.
After the full release, you can also play Arena Breakout: Infinite with NPC companions in your squad instead of just solo or with other players. The new system allows you to talk to these NPC companions via voice chat.
You just need to talk into your microphone and can give them (complicated) instructions. The NPCs will respond thanks to artificial intelligence in the voice chat and execute the instructions or let you know if they cannot do something.

The system is also not limited to pre-defined words or phrases. You can phrase it however the sentences come to your mind; the system is supposed to understand you nonetheless.
The video also shows that not only instructions work. The artificial intelligence also responds to questions about the weather or the success of the run.
Will the system also work in other languages? Unfortunately, nothing is known about that so far. The video was spoken exclusively in English. If you understand and can speak English, you should be able to use the system without any issues.
Whether the NPCs will also understand German in the future and respond accordingly, we hope to find out in the near future.
