The new Pokemon games “Let’s go, Pikachu” and “Let’s go, Eevee” for Nintendo Switch have caused confusion among fans of the series. Will the online features of the spin-offs be paid or not? Now, Nintendo clears up all uncertainties with an official statement.
In “Pokemon Let’s Go”, it is the remake of Pokemon Yellow, which takes place in the classic Kanto region. Players can choose between two versions, giving them either Pikachu or Evoli as companions.
Online features are paid
Nintendo confirmed to GameSpot that players will need the Switch Online Subscription if they want to use the multiplayer features of Pokemon Let’s Go.
This will allow them to battle other players over the internet or locally, or trade Pokemon with them.
However, these features will be simplified. For example, there will be no Global Trade Station or Wonder Trade. According to Nintendo, Pokemon Let’s Go should be more beginner-friendly and aimed at new players.
How will the Switch subscription work? The paid online service of the Switch is expected to be available from September 2018 and will be tied to the respective player’s account.
There are the following options for the subscription:
- 1 month – €3.99
- 3 months – €7.99
- 12 months – €19.99
There will also be a “12 months Family Plan” for around €34.99, allowing the use of online features on up to 8 different accounts.
