A movie series like Harry Potter is not free from mistakes and curious moments. One of them can be found in the fourth part and concerns a football fan who is wandering around the wrong event.
Making a film is a big and elaborate undertaking, during which many decisions must be made. Among them, what the actors wear in front of the camera. Special attention is required, especially when dealing with a fictional universe like Harry Potter.
Things that we usually only know from our real world stand out even more and seem out of place. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, there is a curious scene where the costume design seems to have been done a bit inaccurately. The result is a funny movie mistake, and by far not the only one in the series.
The Wrong Sport
Which scene are we talking about? If you pause Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at the right moment, around minute 06:28, you find yourself at the Quidditch World Cup. You can learn more about this broom sport on MeinMMO.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione, along with several other characters, attend the finals, and the film shows the audience the colorful hustle and bustle on the grounds. Here, numerous Quidditch fans have set up their tents to camp. At the mentioned spot, a man walks by and is visible on the left side of the image. He is wearing a jersey that may not say much to the uninitiated at first glance. Football fans might find it familiar, though.
It is actually a jersey of the Spanish football club Betis Sevilla. They play in the Primera División, the top Spanish league. The jersey in the film is, as the club colors suggest, green and white striped.

Now it seems a bit strange that someone is walking around in a football jersey at the Quidditch World Cup. Moreover, football plays no role in Harry Potter, let alone a team from Spain.
However, there is a possible explanation for how the movie mistake might have occurred: The flag of a country that plays a central role in the Quidditch World Cup shares two colors with the Spanish football team: Ireland.
The flag of this country also contains green and white, along with red. So it’s possible that during the dressing of the extras for the film, there was some sort of mix-up. An Irish jersey was swapped with the real Spanish one, or the costume department was not aware that this is clothing of the club Betis Sevilla

That an extra is wearing the Irish colors is indeed likely: In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Ireland wins the Quidditch World Cup in 1994. The country was therefore very present during the finals.
