What is Sony giving away if it’s not a game? Sony is not solely responsible for the summer package for all customers of its newer consoles. Together with Apple, they are offering a three-month trial subscription for the streaming service Apple TV+, as advertised on the official PlayStation website.

You must have the following to take advantage of the offer:
- PlayStation®4 or PlayStation®5 console
- A PlayStation™Network account
- An Apple ID
After that, proceed as follows:
- Download the Apple TV app in the “TV & Video” section of your PS4 console or through the media home screen of your PS5 console.
- Then open it and follow the instructions on the screen.
- Log in with your Apple ID or create a new Apple ID.
Do I need to own an Apple device to create an Apple ID? No, you don’t have to own an iPhone, a Mac, or any other Apple product at home or ever have owned one. Anyone can create an Apple account.
If you already have a subscription to Apple TV+, you cannot use the offer with the Apple ID. You will need to create a new one – which must also be secured by a different payment method.
Can I also use Apple TV+ outside of my PlayStation consoles afterwards? Sony does not state this explicitly. But from the wording, it can be inferred: Yes. The offer must only be redeemed on the Sony consoles; thereafter, it should be unlocked for the Apple ID on any device. Further down the page, Sony mentions other devices, but does not make it clear in black and white.
Does the trial subscription cost me anything? No, you have indirectly already paid for it with the purchase of the console. However, if you do not cancel the subscription before the end, it will automatically renew as usual in such cases. The payment method linked to the Apple ID will then be charged.
Until when is the promotion running? You must activate your Apple TV+ trial subscription no later than September 22, 2024, otherwise, the option will expire. The duration may extend beyond this date.
Wait, this has happened before, right? Yes, Apple and Sony partnered in 2023. About a year ago, they offered the same customer groups a trial phase of the service. However, the time limits differed. PS5 owners received six months of trial time, while PS4 users only got three. Now the two companies have equalized the offer, the reasons are unknown.
