In Battlefield REDSEC you can improve weapons that you find on the ground. But a choice at the beginning of the match affects which weapon you can upgrade.
What are upgrade kits? In Battlefield REDSEC, there are so-called upgrade kits that allow you to elevate weapons you found during the round as ground loot in crates, etc., to a higher level (up to maximum purple).
There are a total of five tiers: gray, green, blue, purple, and gold. The higher the tier of a weapon, the more attachment points it has. A purple weapon has more attachments compared to a green weapon, such as a larger magazine, a laser, or a better sight.
Where can you find upgrade kits? In Battlefield REDSEC, there are crates whose contents are influenced by the class played by the player. These crates contain class-specific gadgets such as rocket launchers for the Pioneer, as well as the aforementioned upgrade kits.
Why do you always get the same upgrade kits? Since you find the upgrade kits in the class crates, these correspond to the weapon type that a class specializes in.
- The Pioneer gets PDW kits (for all SMGs)
- The Supplier gets LMG kits
- The Assault Soldier gets Assault Rifle kits
- The Scout gets Sniper Rifle kits
So if you prefer to play an assault rifle in Battlefield REDSEC and are frustrated that you only get PDW kits, it is because you chose the Pioneer in the class selection at the beginning of a round.
This is how you get the desired upgrade kit: Essentially, there are two ways to ultimately get the upgrade kits you want for your preferred ground loot weapon:
- play the respective class
- share with teammates
The often suboptimal way is to decide at the beginning of the round for the class that specializes in the respective weapon type. However, this is often not the ideal way, because a 4-man squad does not need 4 Scouts just to play strong sniper rifles. In Battlefield REDSEC, classes play an important role and should not be chosen just for a specific weapon.
It is better to talk to your teammates and share the found kits. For example, as a Pioneer, you can drop PDW kits for the Scout in your squad, so they can upgrade an SMG in addition to the sniper rifle. Keep that in mind when opening the class crates, because if your squad still needs to upgrade SMGs, it is not sensible for the Supplier to eye the crate and then find only LMG kits inside.
