MyMMO editor Nikolas Hernes loves the hunt for trophies, but this led to one of the saddest moments of his gaming life in one of his favorite action RPGs.
Which game are we talking about? I have loved the Kingdom Hearts
series since I was little. The mix of Disney and Final Fantasy holds a very special place in my heart, even though the story is complete nonsense. As a big fan of achievements, I tried to get all the trophies on PS4 in 2018 with the collection Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX

To do this, you have to grind quite a bit. To obtain all weapons for Sora, Donald, and Goofy, you not only have to defeat various bosses but also grind crafting materials and weapons. The two most time-consuming weapons are probably the Ultima Weapon, for which you need a lot of materials, and the Defender Shield for Goofy. This can drop from a specific enemy with a 0.2% chance. So it takes quite a while.
After about 60 hours of gameplay (25-30 of those in the main story), I had completed everything the game had to offer. I had obtained the weapons and defeated all the secret bosses. There were just a few trophies left that I wanted to tackle directly. However, due to my greed, I lost everything and haven’t touched the game for 7 years.

How did I lose everything? While farming materials and enemies, I developed a certain muscle memory when saving. I ran countless times to the save point and, in just a few clicks, overwrote my current save file without thinking about it.
However, after starting a new save file, the problem arose. Without thinking, I saved at one of the first save points, but before I realized it, my perfect save file was gone. After that, I turned off the game and haven’t touched it again out of frustration. I didn’t care about the remaining trophies.
Since then, my saving behavior has changed drastically. If possible, I always create 3 save files simultaneously, which I alternate through with each save. This has at least saved me playthroughs in other games. Especially in survival horror games.
With the 3 save files, I have the advantage of being able to go back further if I have wasted too much ammunition and find myself in a difficult situation. Had I done that earlier, I probably would still have my beautiful Ultima Weapon and the rare Defender Shield.
