Recently, the last major update for World of Warcraft: The War Within was launched. A quest line is a thorn in the side of many players and it is about an important species: bees.
What kind of quest is it? Patch 11.2 brought the final part of the main story of The War Within into the game. The world quest “Ecological Conservation” is part of it. During this quest line, there is a series of 19 quests dealing with bees. If you count the tasks needed to even start the quest line, you get a total of 25.
It wouldn’t be so bad if the tasks were fun. However, this is where many players currently face a problem. The bee quests only offer the repetition of the same stupid routines.
The Reddit user Gaatti sums it up well: “Get honey, stun bees, collect bees, stun bees again, get more honey, stun bees again, take pictures of the bees, collect bees again because we’re moving, and you know what? Get more honey, stun bees again …”
All of this repeats multiple times, causing boredom on one hand and frustration on the other. Even MeinMMO demon Cortyn has noticed the quest negatively, but sees other problems with the update.
Bees must be protected, but …
What does the community think? The Reddit user concludes his complaint with the statement: “In the end, I just wanted to kill the bees and burn down the eco-dome.”
He is not alone in his opinion. In the comments under his Reddit post, other players gather to vent their anger:
- Exodor72 writes: “And it just goes on and on. Several times I thought I was done, and then I got another task.”
- “The bee quest line almost drove me crazy yesterday. The day was already bad due to some negative personal messages, but this quest line … oh man, flawed, tedious, and boring,” says EXB2019.
- “I usually don’t get too annoyed about quests, but at the point where you have to bring the bees back to the hive and the ‘hive’ is just a pile of barely visible bees on the ground, I almost yelled at my monitor,” shares rda1991.
- “I love bees. I’ve always dreamed of having a beekeeping business after my retirement. This quest line has made me want to burn every hive I ever see again,” says Bishopkilljoy.
The quests seem to cost the world some potential beekeepers, judging by the mood in the comments.
Must the quest line be completed? No, it is optional but unlocks a weekly quest. In it, you receive a key for a chest that gives rewards deep within. If you want to have this, you have to deal with the bees one way or another.
The rest of the world quest “Ecological Conservation” can be viewed on wowhead.com. The table shows that there will be a total of 102 quests – a considerable number.
