The developers of Minecraft-like Hytale have announced their Early Access launch, but at the same time warn against the start of the title.
What is the status of Hytale? After Hytale experienced an immense hype in 2018 through a trailer with now 61 million views on YouTube, the title was initially bought by Riot. However, the game was never completed at Riot, and in 2025, the end of the title was also announced.
However, the original developers of the title were able to buy it back from Riot and are taking development into their own hands once again years later. Just weeks after the purchase, Hytale is now set to go into Early Access, but the developers warn about its current state.

Launch despite major problems
What are the developers warning about? Although Hytale will be released on January 13, 2026, the developers warn in their current post on Hytale.com against purchasing the game. They have decided to revert to the old game engine from back then and are currently attempting to integrate over 300 new developments at various stages of completion into the game.
This not only leads to bugs, but the existing features are also at varying stages of development. Hytale is currently simply in an early development stage that is far from finished. Similar to the alpha and beta versions of Minecraft, they aim to progress towards a more polished game from version to version.
How much will Hytale cost? The head of the development studio behind Hytale recently shared his thoughts on the game’s price on X.com. He personally bought back Hytale with his money and would also bear a significant risk due to the low price. The now 50 employees also need to be paid.
The price for Hytale will be $19.99, with the expectation that the game will be available in Europe for a price between €16.99 and €19.99. Those who want to spend more money on the game can secure the supporter pack for $34.99 (approx. €30) or the cursebreaker founder pack for $69.99 (approx. €60).
The packs only offer cosmetic rewards and serve solely to support the developers. There are capes and hats for buyers.
