A player used a slightly different type of pay-to-win as a tactic to claim first place in the Battle Royale of Call of Duty: Warzone.

The player and Redditor schmayward has now shown that it can also be done differently and comparatively easily – with a somewhat unusual method, for which you basically only need one thing: a lot of in-game money and a little luck.
This is how the fight went: Schmayward was with his buddy among the last 2 teams of the match, so they were still facing a complete 4-man squad.
The circle was getting tighter, shortly afterward he lost his teammate, so he fought on alone and injured against now 3 opponents from the other squad. Shortly after, the enemies put him under so much pressure that he had no choice but to flee from the final circle.
Yet what usually would mean certain death kept him not only alive but even brought him victory.
This method brought victory: When he had to escape into the deadly gas, he discovered a supply station there, where you can buy equipment – including the gas mask. With the gas mask, you can survive longer in the toxic gas, but the mask also wears out after a short time.
Since he had over $20,000 in-game cash, he briefly lay down at the crate and bought a gas mask. Every time it wore out, he just bought a new one. This way, he was able to survive in the otherwise deadly gas. Meanwhile, the gas circle completely closed in.
The decision was immediately and inevitably looming. After a while, the supply station closes, and he can no longer buy new masks.
After he resorted to the last measure and revived himself again, the match was over. All 3 opponents found their deaths in the gas, and he secured victory with his purchasing tactic – pay-to-win in a different way.
Does this method work every time? Even though it might seem at first glance that schmayward did not have to do much for the victory, there is ultimately quite a bit more to it.
First, he made it with his team to the last 2 squads and into the final circle – that alone is not always easy. Also, you need not only a lot of money but also a bit of luck. Because for this tactic you also need a supply station nearby to even carry it out.
But if you can hide long enough, gather enough cash, and have luck with the station, you can theoretically play your way to victory or at least to the final with relatively little effort.
