The new trading system in Pokémon GO helps you earn more candy for certain Pokémon. With this method, you get the most out of trading.
Trading method brings more candy: Candy is an important resource in Pokémon GO. The new trading system in Pokémon GO gives you more candy when Pokémon catches are far apart. If you use this feature correctly with your friends, you can collect up to 4 candies for a Pokémon.
Trade and then transfer
High distance for more candies: With a trade, you can gain more than just new IV values. You can get up to 3 candies if you trade Pokémon that are caught with a distance of 100 kilometers apart. PokémonGOHub shows you how to increase candy output. You shouldn’t just send Pokémon with bad IVs to Professor Willow for 1 candy, but rather enlist a friend to help. Alolan eggs play an important role in this.
Why Alolan Pokémon? In the method shown, you utilize the friends feature of Pokémon GO. You can add friends from all over the world. For example, if you live in Berlin and receive an Alolan egg from a friend in Hannover, you have a distance of nearly 250 KM when trading in Berlin with a Pokémon from Berlin. This qualifies your trade for 3 candies. Because for Alolan Pokémon from Alolan eggs, the catch location is where the friend received the corresponding gift.
This is what the trade looks like in overview:
- Sending a Pokémon = 1 candy
- Trading a Pokémon without high distance = 1 candy
- Sending and trading without high distance = 2 candies
- Trade with high distance = 3 candies
- Trade with high distance and sending = 4 candies
Because you can receive Pokémon gifts and thus Alolan eggs from friends around the world, achieving high distances for catch locations is not a problem.
This is how trading works for many candies
Trainer A and Trainer B both have Larvitar with low IV values. Instead of simply sending this to Professor Willow, they use this method to gain more candies.
- Both hatch an Alolan egg. It must come from a gift from a friend who caught this Pokémon far from your trading partner.
- Then both trainers select the Larvitar they wish to give away. (Keep in mind, Larvitar is just an example)
- They also choose an Alolan Pokémon from an egg that is meant for the distance.
- Trainer A trades his Larvitar for Trainer B’s Alolan Pokémon. On the trade screen, you can see if the distance is great enough for 3 candies. Trainer A then receives 3 Larvitar candies.
- Then Trainer B trades his Larvitar for an Alolan Pokémon from Trainer A. This gives Trainer B 3 candies for his Larvitar.
- If the distance was great enough with the Alolan Pokémon, both now have received 3 Larvitar candies.
- If you like the new IV values after the trade, you keep the Larvitar.
- If the Larvitar now has poor IV values, you send them to Professor Willow. This way, both trainers receive another candy, totaling 4 Larvitar candies.
It’s best to carry out these trade transactions with friends whose friendship level has already increased. This way, the chance for better IV values increases.
Pay attention to the costs when trading: Normally, such a trade should cost 100 Stardust. Make sure before trading that it is not more expensive.
How can I be sure? To ensure how far the distance is between 2 catch locations, you can enter the locations on Distancefromto.net.
