Apex Legends has now received some changes to the map in Season 2. Among them are the Leviathans, enormous creatures that now stand in the middle of the map. But they are not just decoration – they are actually quite useful.
What are the Leviathans? The Leviathans are a new gameplay element in Apex Legends. They stand right in the middle of the map and occasionally roar their presence across King’s Canyon. Originally, they were outside the map and were kept away by the Repulsor Tower.
When the tower collapsed as part of the many changes in Season 2, the Leviathans finally returned. Now they stand in King’s Canyon and supply you with loot and even kills, if you are lucky.
How to properly use the Leviathans
How do I get loot? Under the clawed feet of the Leviathans, there is often particularly high-quality loot. Players report finding level-3 shields and Phoenix Kits. However, you can only access these when the Leviathans lift their legs – and you are quick enough.
Occasionally, the large, sluggish Leviathans stomp down. They lift one leg. Exactly where the clawed foot stood before, loot will be available for you to collect.
But you have to hurry. The duration from lifting to placing the leg back down is only about six seconds. If the Leviathan puts its leg back down while you are standing there, you are dead. It looks something like this:
How do I get kills? The kills from the Leviathans work similarly. In the surroundings, it is usually quite visible where a Leviathan will place its clawed foot due to craters and trampled buildings. If you want to achieve a kill without any effort, you can:
- drop some high-quality loot there to attract players
- simply wait until someone passes by and engage them in a fight
- or intentionally lure someone into a fight there, while you stand a bit outside as the opponent gets crushed.

Where can I find the Leviathans? The two Leviathans are located right in the center of the map. One stands south of Containment and Artillery, the other exactly between Market and The Cage.
You can see them from the air while flying. When you are on the ground, you will likely only be able to see their giant, stone column-like legs.
