On Sunday, Entei returns to Pokémon GO and you can even defeat it with just two players. You only need to be level 30.
It’s that easy: Entei is weak against 3 types and can be defeated with just two players. You need Pokémon that are at least level 30. If you have the right weather, you can even be level 25.
When do I get a chance at Entei? The legendary Pokémon returns as part of a Raid Day. It appears on July 14th between 4 PM and 7 PM at all gyms that are not hosting an EX Raid.

Which counters should I use? Entei is a Fire type, which makes it weak against Rock, Ground, and Water. So use these types.
You need to consider: In our calculations for the raid battle, we have always assumed the highest friendship level. This gives you a bonus in battle that is essential.
Also, for some Pokémon, the weather is crucial. It boosts your monsters as well. However, you can still defeat Entei with just two players at level 30 in any weather.

This is how hard it gets: The battle with Pokémon at level 30 will be quite tough. The options are also quite limited, as only a few Pokémon are strong enough. Weather bonuses could play into your hands here.
Use these Pokémon: Only 2 Pokémon can defeat Entei at this level with two players. In addition, there are some monsters that work well given the right weather:
- Rameidon with Rock Smash and Rock Slide
- Kyogre with Waterfall and Hydro Pump
- Tyranitar with Rock Smash and Stone Edge (only in partly cloudy weather)
- Rhyperior with Rock Smash and Stone Edge (only in partly cloudy weather)
- Feraligatr with Waterfall and Hydro Cannon (only in rain)
- Gyarados with Waterfall and Hydro Pump (only in rain)
This is how you defeat Entei at level 35 with two players
This is how hard it gets: It won’t be much easier at this level either. Although Rameidon and Kyogre can defeat Entei more easily, the options in your battle team won’t expand much.
Use these Pokémon: Some more Pokémon at level 35 can defeat Entei with two players – assuming the weather cooperates. These include:
- Aerodactyl with Stone Throw and Rock Slide (only in partly cloudy weather)
- Ampharos with Stone Throw and Rock Slide (only in partly cloudy weather)
- Palkia with Dragon Tail and Hydro Pump (only in rain)
- Garchomp with Mud Shot and Earthquake (only in sunny weather)
This is how you defeat Entei at level 40 with two players
This is how hard it gets: If you bring the top counters, Entei shouldn’t pose any problems. If you benefit from the weather bonus, your battle team will become even broader.
Use these Pokémon: Two more Pokémon can defeat Entei at level 40 without a weather bonus. Additionally, some other monsters that can also benefit from the weather bonus:
- Tyranitar with Rock Smash and Stone Edge
- Feraligatr with Waterfall and Hydro Pump
- (Alolan) Golem with Stone Throw and Rock Edge (only in partly cloudy weather)
- Blastoise with Water Gun and Hydro Pump (only in rain)
- Swampert with Water Gun and Surf (only in rain)
- Groudon with Mud Shot and Earthquake (only in sunny weather)
This is important in the duo: Know your Pokémon. It doesn’t help if you use the right Pokémon but they have the wrong moves.
Prepare your battle team in advance. This way, if you lose all your Pokémon, you can quickly revive them and enter the battle again.
Don’t go back into battle with the suggested team in any case. You won’t succeed with the duo this way.
