Sweet Dreams is an exotic weapon in The Division 2. We’ll show you what the Exotic can do and how you can get Sweet Dreams.
This is how you get Sweet Dreams: For this Exotic, you need to find neither exotic weapon components nor visit the Crafting Station, instead you should hope for luck.
Because Sweet Dreams is a random drop Exotic.
- You must be in the endgame (character level 30).
- You need to defeat named Outcast bosses. They can drop Sweet Dreams. Play missions where Outcasts are waiting to ambush you. Bounty missions against Outcasts are also said to provide a chance for Sweet Dreams.
- Play the missions on Hard or Challenging to increase the chances of Sweet Dreams.

Confirmed and reliable locations are these missions:
- The DCD Headquarters near the White House
- Potomac Event Center in the “Foggy Bottom” area
- Roosevelt Island, the Outcasts’ stronghold
The DCD Headquarters is said to be the best source since you can complete this mission quite quickly. This way, you have a relatively frequent chance for Sweet Dreams to be available:

That’s why Sweet Dreams is an aggressive weapon
This is Sweet Dreams: It is an exotic shotgun with a fire rate of 70 and a magazine size of 8. Thus, Sweet Dreams belongs to shotguns with very low fire rates and high damage. The reload speed is 5.4 seconds. The weapon grants +144% melee damage.
These are the talents:
- Sweet Dreams: Switch to the weapon and land a melee hit on an enemy to gain 35% bonus armor and activate the Sandman debuff. Killing an enemy with the Sandman debuff reapplies the bonus armor.
- Sandman: This debuff prevents enemies from using armor kits and healing from all possible sources.
This means: You run up to an enemy and hit them with the melee attack; you temporarily receive a bonus armor, and that enemy receives the Sandman debuff. The enemy cannot heal for a few seconds.
After a melee attack, the bonus armor is displayed as a blue bar, and the Sandman debuff as a red symbol above the enemy’s head:

This blue bonus armor bar lasts only as long as the Sandman debuff. The red symbol above the enemy “empties” after a few seconds. This way you can see when the effect ends. If you kill the enemy while they have the debuff, the 35% bonus armor is only extended, but it will still end after a few seconds.
- Evasive: The Exotic has a third talent. This causes a dodge roll to recharge 1% of the current weapon magazine when you have Sweet Dreams equipped.
For this talent, two things need to be noted:
- You only need to have Sweet Dreams equipped in one weapon slot, then this talent applies to all weapons you are currently holding.
- The 1% might not be correct. According to user tests, it is rather 25% that you recharge with a dodge roll.
You can see the talents in JuhhCrispy’s video from minute 4:15 in action:
This is how you play Sweet Dreams: Shotguns are always designed for close combat, but with Sweet Dreams you need to be particularly aggressive.
Because if you don’t deal melee damage first, for which you need to get extremely close to the enemy, you won’t benefit from the talents.
Sweet Dreams is probably designed for PvP. You can charge at enemies with a knife between your teeth, punch them, the enemies can’t heal, and you have bonus armor so you won’t go down quickly.
However, Sweet Dreams is often rated as a “disappointing” Exotic because it requires a very specific playstyle, and the bonus armor only lasts a short time. And if an enemy runs backwards and shoots a shotgun at you, you are dead before you can punch them.
If you enjoy playing with shotguns, you should definitely give Sweet Dreams a try. But it’s not everyone’s weapon.

Improving Lullaby with Sweet Dreams
Information about Lullaby: Lullaby is a shotgun that is included as a pre-order bonus content in the “Capitol Defender Pack”.
You can improve Lullaby by obtaining a Sweet Dreams shotgun with at least 250 points – according to the in-game description. This means you need a Sweet Dreams with Gear Score 250 or higher. Then you can upgrade Lullaby at the crafting station.
