The nexus of Heroes of the Storm will soon be enriched by two new heroes from the Warcraft universe: Chromie and Medivh.
After Blizzard released several teasers in the past days showing some abilities of the new heroes, they have now made it clear and created an “In Development” video. This confirms the earlier suspicion that Chromie will be the next hero in HotS.
Chromie of the Bronze Dragonflight
Chromie is a bronze dragon lady who mainly presents herself to the mortal races in gnome form. She investigates anomalies in the timelines and is featured in many quests of World of Warcraft, especially in the Plaguelands, but also in Pandaria and the Caverns of Time. In Heroes of the Storm, she is an assassin. Let’s take a quick look at her abilities.
- Her passive trait is Timewalker. Chromie travels through time, allowing her to learn all talents one level earlier than other heroes (for example: heroic ability as early as level 9).
- Sand Blast has a casting time of 1 second. After this time, a projectile is fired in a straight line, dealing massive damage. Only enemy heroes can be hit.
- Dragon’s Breath is cast on a target area. After a 1.5 second delay, the spell hits and causes high area damage. Enemy players cannot see in advance where the ability will land.
- With Time Trap, Chromie can lay a trap. After 2 seconds, the trap is activated and gains invisibility. Enemy heroes who step on the trap will be put into stasis for 2 seconds (they are immune but cannot act). Only one trap can be active at a time.
- The first heroic ability is Slowing Sands. A sandstorm blows in a large area, slowing down enemies. The slow increases the longer the storm lasts, up to 50%. Sandstorm has a cooldown of only 5 seconds and consumes mana per second. The storm can be maintained as long as Chromie has mana.
- The second heroic ability is Temporal Loop. The spell is cast on an enemy hero. After 3 seconds, the hero will be teleported back to the spot where they were when Chromie cast the spell.
Chromie is scheduled to celebrate her release on the night of May 17th.
Medivh – the Last Guardian of Tirisfal
Although Medivh holds the title of “The Last Guardian of Tirisfal”, he was the one who brought the Orcs to Azeroth and thus set the events of Warcraft in motion. He is considered one of the most powerful wizards of all time, so it might be somewhat surprising that he enters the battlefield as a ranged specialist. Let’s take a quick look at his abilities.
- His passive trait is Raven Form. Medivh transforms into a raven after a short casting time, becoming completely immune and can fly over all obstacles (walls, towers, bushes, etc.).
- Arcane Rift fires a projectile in a straight line, hitting and injuring all enemies in its path. If the spell hits an enemy hero, the cooldown is drastically reduced.
- Force of Will is a buff spell for himself or an allied hero. The targeted hero is briefly protected from all damage. Stuns and other control effects can still affect the target.
- The spell Portal creates (who would have thought) two portals. One at the target position and one at Medivh. All allied heroes can use the portals to travel back and forth between the two locations. The portals remain active for a few seconds.
- The first heroic ability is Poly Bomb. Medivh transforms an enemy hero into a helpless sheep for 3 seconds. After the time expires, the effect jumps to a nearby enemy hero. This ability can jump infinitely to other heroes.
- The second heroic ability is Ley Line Seal. Medivh shoots magic in a straight line over a long distance. All enemy heroes hit are put into stasis for a few seconds.
Medivh is scheduled to appear on the night of June 14th.
