Hand of the Gods (HotG) is now available for free on Steam in Early Access for download. The collectible card strategy game is from Hi-Rez and is based on the god MOBA SMITE. Players have more than just the turn-based card game at their disposal, as there is also a game board. On it, mythological and god-like figures battle each other, which adds a deeper layer of strategy to Hand of the Gods.
From now on, Hand of the Gods: Smite Tactics can be downloaded and played for free on Steam. The turn-based strategy game will be available to players there under the title Early Access.
This is how the gameplay of Hand of the Gods works:
- You build an army with game cards of mythological and god-like figures. There are also items like cannons.
- You take on the role of a high god like Zeus or Ra and wage war against another god.
- Your deck contains mystical creatures, soldiers, and spells. These cost mana, which you gain and must allocate throughout the game.
- When you play a creature or soldier card, they are summoned to the battlefield.
- Each of the two players has a summoner stone. Whoever is the first to destroy the opponent’s summoner stone wins.
- The summoner stone can be attacked by the army on the game board and by spells. The creatures and mythological figures can also attack each other.
- Each leader of a pantheon has unique skills, allowing Ra to heal his army or Zeus to boost attack power.
Steam launch comes with new features & new starter pack
Hand of the Gods has been playable for a while via Hi-Rez’s own launcher. A solid player base and community have already formed here, providing substantial feedback to the developers. With the Steam launch, there are new features that the community has long wished for.

With the launch of Hand of the Gods on Steam, a new starter pack will also be released, which contains 7 basic card packs and a skin for Ra, the leader of the Egyptian pantheon. Additional card packs can be earned in-game.
Hand of the Gods will be updated regularly and will receive new cards frequently. A seventh pantheon will soon be introduced: The Hindu pantheon. This will be led by the god Ganesha and will include new god, creature, and spell cards.
