ARK Survival Evolved (PC, PS4, Xbox One) is leaving Early Access today, August 29th, and transitioning to Full Release. During this time, the servers will be down for a while, and 33% of them are on a kill list – they will be removed from the game. We explain how Studio Wildcard has planned the release.
Today, August 29th, ARK Survival Evolved is entering Full Release and will thus be a “finished” game. The survival MMO was released on Steam in May 2015 and became a surprising mega hit. In December 2015, ARK entered Early Access on Xbox One, last year in December 2016, ARK Survival Evolved came to PS4.
In its two years of development, the survival MMO has undergone significant growth. The dino game became a mix of sci-fi and fantasy, set in a prehistoric world.
ARK’s “Day One” patch is coming today – Bringing Ragnarok to PS4 & Xbox One
Studio Wildcard has named its release patch today “Day One.” Here’s what the update will look like:
- The “Day One” patch will go live between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM German time. This applies to PC, PS4, and Xbox One
- This update includes the DLC expansion Ragnarok for PS4 and Xbox One
- The patch includes the end boss content of the Tek Cave for PC, PS4, and Xbox One
- The update will be 26 GB on Xbox One. Studio Wildcard has no data yet for the PS4. Experience shows that the updates on PS4 are smaller than on Xbox.
There will be new ARK servers – 33% of the old ones are on the kill list
A whole range of new servers will go online today. Old servers will continue as “Legacy Servers” but will no longer receive customer support.
However, this does not apply to all old servers, as one third will be shut down and is on a kill list: ARK Survival Evolved kills 33% of its servers – the rest will not get support. The new servers will be activated gradually throughout the day.
There will be new official servers for the following game modes:
- Regular/Vanilla
- Non-TEK
- Primitive+
- Hardcore
- Isolated Clusters
- NoTaming
- Extinction Server
- ORP
For both PS4 and PC, players will have the “Legacy Save Files” available until the end of the week. The save files can be accessed for PS4 players through the hosting service Nitrado.
Xbox players will have this option as soon as rentable servers are available to them as well. This is expected to happen in September, according to Wildcard’s estimates.
