Starcraft 2… Wait, isn’t that from Blizzard?

No, I do not want to pull your leg or troll you. Yes, Starcraft is from Blizzard and one of their most well-known games, which still has a huge e-sports scene today and is considered a milestone in the RTS genre.

In Starcraft, there are also Space Marines and this is no coincidence: Blizzard originally intended to make games with a Warhammer license but was unsuccessful in that request. Probably, however, there were already ideas and models that were simply reworked.

However, in Starcraft, Space Marines are not genetically engineered super soldiers but the standard unit of the Terran army. This makes them such tough characters: without cybernetic and biotechnological enhancements, they stand up against the masses of Zerg and the superior technology of the Protoss.

Although Starcraft Marines cannot compare to the Space Marines from Warhammer – after all, they are no longer human – they rely on a cocktail of combat drugs to somewhat level the playing field in battle.

Accordingly, while Starcraft does not show you what “real” Space Marines are capable of, it paints a picture of how strong Astartes might be if they had not been genetically modified.
