MMO shooter – Place 2 – Fortnite: Battle Royale
Fortnite was originally developed as a PvE coop loot shooter and had its initial successes in this genre. However, then the developers played a bit with a Battle Royale PvP mode similar to Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds. It was so well received that they quickly made their own Free2Play game mode out of it and released it for PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
This also satisfied the developers at Epic Games with the demand for Battle Royale games on consoles, as PUBG is still only available for PC and is also not free2play.
Fortnite: Battle Royale is completely free to play. The cash shop offers only cosmetic items for a currency that you can get for real money or certain achievements in the game.
Colorful Shooting Fun!
The developers of Fortnite: Battle Royale first received trouble from PUBG studio Bluehole because the PvP mode of Fortnite allegedly looks too much like their game. And at first glance, PUBG and Fortnite: Battle Royale actually look alike. In both games, the goal is to be the last one standing out of 100 players. In both games, you jump out of an aircraft unarmed and in both games, you find all sorts of weapons along the way.
But where PUBG is serious and presents muted colors and realistic gameplay, Fortnite: Battle Royale is a colorful action fest! Your cartoonish characters happily bounce through the foliage, catapult themselves into the air with trampolines, disguise themselves as bushes, and ride pumpkin-headed rockets!
Building and Destroying Houses
The gameplay is therefore much faster and crazier than in the rather staid PUBG. In addition, there is the crafting mode known from the coop mode. In the original Fortnite, you collect resources, build an impenetrable fortress out of them, and then test it against massive hordes of monsters!
You can do similar things in the PvP mode. When you dismantle the buildings and objects of the game world with your pickaxe, you gain resources which you can then use to build your own small fortresses, towers, or trap courses. This alone makes Fortnite: Battle Royale a unique game that is a lot of fun.

Especially in Duo (2 players) or Squad mode (4 players), Fortnite is a lot of fun because you can better coordinate your building efforts and gather resources more effectively. This way, the game satisfies both fans of wild shooting and those who enjoy building something.

Warframe is a futuristic coop loot shooter that has been around since 2013 and is developed by the Canadian studio Digital Extremes. For a long time, Warframe was a niche game supported by enthusiastic fans but otherwise received little attention. This changed with the major update “Plains of Eidolon”. From then on, the game gained much more attention and enjoys much greater popularity than before.
A vast universe full of awesome grind
But even without the large open-world map of the “Plains of Eidolon”, Warframe already had a lot of content and top-notch gameplay. You play as a Tenno, a kind of space ninja in a biomechanical battle suit called Warframe. Thanks to the action-packed gameplay, you leap meters through the air, run along walls, slide across the ground, and shoot and slash as much as you can!
You have dozens of rifles, shotguns, swords, pistols, and other weapons. Additionally, there are companions such as crazy mutant dogs and cats, flying robo-drones, and over 30 Warframes. Each Warframe is its own class with individual gameplay and special skills.
So much to do!
There’s a lot to do, and you can individually level up each item, each Warframe, and each companion and enhance them with special modifications. These “mods” can be further upgraded.
So there is a huge amount to do, which makes Warframe a paradise for grind lovers. Additionally, the shooting is a blast. On the open-world map “Plains of Eidolon,” you can also hunt giant monsters, fish, and mine!
If you prefer more leisurely activities, you can indulge in the housing system and decorate your spaceship to your heart’s content. Or you can style your Warframes, as there are a ton of colors, accessories, and alternative skins to make you truly unique.
This fashion show, called “Fashion Frame,” is said by many players to be an integral part of the game and truly the real endgame!
A unique story that keeps going
However, Warframe is not just fun shooting and grinding. There are now plenty of story missions that can completely change the game. On one hand, essential revelations about the setting provide extreme “wow moments.” On the other hand, after certain missions, you suddenly possess entirely new abilities and play in a very different way than before.
And then there are quests that are just extremely atmospheric. For example, the mission “Chains of Harrow.” You are supposed to unlock a new Warframe there, but you have to experience a true horror trip, which presents the game in a way very different from what it was before.
Such breaks from the usual routine make Warframe, alongside its extremely fun action gameplay and dark sci-fi setting, a special game that no shooter fan should miss!
Warframe has an extremely fair free-to-play system. You can unlock everything in the game but can shorten the grind with the real-money currency Platinum and directly purchase weapons or Warframes. However, you can also exchange Platinum for certain items from other players. So anyone who plays diligently and crafts Prime items does not have to pay anything.
