Rank 8: Lorgar Aurelian
Originally, Lorgar was the greatest worshipper of the Emperor and revered him as a god, something that his father did not like at all. The father of the Word Bearers was the first Primarch to succumb to Erebus’ whispers and fall to Chaos.
Lorgar’s greatest strength has always lain not in battle, but in his influence and eloquence. He was even able to keep his connection to Chaos secret from others for years, including the Emperor.
For combat, Lorgar’s best weapons are his psychic power and his knowledge of the Warp, but other Primarchs are stronger in this regard. Only since he has become a Daemon Prince of the Undivided Chaos does Lorgar even rank ahead of Alpharius Omegon.
In battles against Corvus Corax, possibly the strongest of all Primarchs, Lorgar lost twice – even before Corvus Corax became so powerful. Against other Primarchs, the father of the Word Bearers was also at a disadvantage in battle. Even against a Blood Demon, he had some difficulties. Lorgar’s strength lies more in letting the Warp fight for him rather than attacking with his own powers.
Lorgar’s views and his worship of the Emperor were one of the triggers for the Great Brother War, especially since the other Primarchs saw their father only as that: their father. Ironically, Lorgar might have been right, because even Roboute Guilliman is no longer sure whether the Emperor might actually be a god.
