Rank 5: Jaghatai Khan (White Scars)
Jaghatai Khan is—or was, it’s not exactly clear—the first Primarch in this list who primarily sees himself as a warrior. He has a great interest in battle and eagerly answers the call to crusades.
Although he and his White Scars are often depicted as barbarians, one of Jaghatai Khan’s greatest virtues is his discipline and quest for perfection, both in battle and in diplomacy.
His fighting style relies primarily on quick and precise attacks, similar to how historical Mongols operated, who serve as a rough model for the White Scars. A quick raid can ultimately decide a battle faster than a positional war or a duel.
Khan himself has to his credit a victory over a Keeper of Secrets, a greater demon of Slaanesh as well as a victory (and a forced defeat) against the daemon Primarch Mortarion. In a subsequent encounter, Jaghatai Khan was able to defeat Mortarion, but only by allowing himself to be pierced by the demon prince’s scythe.
