Rank 6: Vulkan (Salamanders)
Among the Primarchs, Vulkan is considered by far the largest and physically strongest, and no one disputes that. There are different accounts of his height, but most agree that he is over 3.2 meters tall—without armor.
Vulkan is regarded as a brilliant smith, just like Ferrus Manus, and is somewhat responsible for ensuring that the Space Marines had access to rare and absurdly powerful armors and weapons before the great brother war in his possession.
The Primarch of the Salamanders is difficult to assess, as he is virtually immortal and thus can never really be defeated. From the Emperor, who himself was created as a rather direct superhuman, he inherited his origin as a “Perpetual.” Vulkan can recover from even the worst wounds—even when his body is literally torn apart.
Konrad Curze, the fallen Primarch of the Night Lords and one of the best fighters among the Primarchs, even beheaded Vulkan… and tore off all his limbs, ripping his throat out with a fork and letting him be riddled by hundreds of bolter rounds. Nevertheless, the Salamander survived.
The master smith may not be truly killed, but he can certainly be defeated. Similar to Ferrus Manus, Vulkan’s preferred combat method is direct and powerful, with little finesse or technique. Accordingly, most other Primarchs could defeat him in a duel, albeit (probably) never kill him permanently.
