Animist and Theurg (Dark Age of Camelot)
What is this? These two classes are pet casters that summon numerous creatures to aid them in combat. The Animist summons mushroom creatures, while the Theurg summons elementals.
Why are these classes cool? The pet creatures in Dark Age of Camelot are autonomous and summoned in large numbers. This means that you have a small private army of creatures that will beat down your enemies. The classes are aptly named “Pet Spammers.” And then the Animist has extremely bizarre mushroom critters as pets! They explode or act as defensive turrets.
Necromancer (Dark Age of Camelot)
What is this? In Dark Age of Camelot, necromancers are not summoners of undead armies. Rather, the necro here is a summoner that summons exactly one pet and casts spells through it.
Why is this class cool? All of the necro’s spells must first be cast on the pet, which then performs everything else. This means the necro always has a delay when casting and can line up spells to be executed in succession by the pet.
Without his pet, the necromancer is just a defenseless priest in cloth armor. As long as his pet lives, he can only be seen as a nasty, hardly visible shadow behind the creature.
On the next page, we continue with more classes.
