Place 1: The One Ring
Fans of Tolkien’s work knew from the very beginning that none of the other 19 Rings could pose a threat to this first place. The One Ring was the ultimate weapon in Middle-earth. Sauron forged it away from the other Rings in the fires of Mount Doom and initially kept this endeavor a secret.
He formed a bond with the Ring that even remained after Sauron’s body had long been defeated. The One Ring made its bearer invisible, granted them a long life, and gave great power to those who knew how to handle it.
Unfortunately, over time, some beings succumbed to this power, as they were too weak to resist the whispers of the Ring. Among them are Gollum, Bilbo, and Frodo. The special thing about the One Ring was, moreover, that it could only be destroyed where it was created: in the fire of Mount Doom. A common fire only served to make the inscription, the Ring poem, visible:
One Ring to rule them all, one Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
Those were the Rings of Power from Middle-earth, sorted by their strength. They have greatly influenced the fate of the world and granted some characters great power, while others have plunged them into their doom. Those who bore the One Ring reacted differently: All 9 Ring-bearers from The Lord of the Rings in the Power Ranking – Who could resist the temptation the best?
