Helldivers 2 was released on August 26, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S. The community of the chaotic shooter has already prepared for their new comrades before the release and devised a plan on how they should spend their first hours in the game.
How do they want to welcome Xbox players? Helpful, but not too helpful. A post on Reddit suggests that experienced Helldivers should hold back and let the Xbox players play the game.
The idea is not to carry the new players through the missions so that they can be completed as quickly as possible. They should also not be shown how to do things “correctly”. The newcomers should figure out how the game works themselves and may also fail along the way: “It doesn’t help Over-Earth to have a bunch of people who never had the chance to learn how to play,” it says.
The post recommends simply helping instead: dropping gear for them to try; answering questions; helping to collect samples; following them instead of leading the way.
What should Xbox players expect? Without concrete instructions, Xbox players will likely be overwhelmed by the chaos of the battles and will often end up in the dirt – but that’s part of Helldivers.
If you are just starting with Helldivers, be prepared to bite the dust often. Make the most of the time to familiarize yourself with the different mechanics and take your time to get to know the game. This includes the sheer overwhelming feeling when hordes of enemies overwhelm you and you have not a second to breathe, as well as an “Oops” when you wipe your entire team and the time pressure that increases and increases at the end of the mission. Helldivers is intense and chaotic.
However, if the overwhelming feeling becomes too much for you, it’s no shame to stay on lower difficulty levels initially and gradually increase. Helldivers is not a competitive game, so don’t feel pressured to play a level that only frustrates you.
What you should also know: In Helldivers 2, there are many different weapons and equipment that you can only get through certain war bonds. A war bond is basically the battle pass of Helldivers 2.
Through the war bonds, you will receive powerful weapons like the PLAS-101-Purifier, the Thermite grenade, the SG-451-Cookout, or the GP-31-Ultimatum. These can be a great help, but you don’t necessarily need them. There are also good free weapons outside of the war bonds.
