Helldivers 2 features crossplay for PS5 and PC, but how to activate the feature to play with your friends is explained in our overview.
How do I activate crossplay? Crossplay is activated in Helldivers 2 for PS5 and PC from the start and you do not need to do anything further. However, if you cannot play with your friends, you can try adding them. Use the friend code that you can generate in the menu under the “Social” tab.
You then enter this code in the same tab under “Search” to add your friends or invite them. But what if you want to disable crossplay? We also have a solution for that.
Therefore, we will show you on both platforms how to disable this setting.
Helldivers 2: Disable crossplay on PC
To disable crossplay on PC, you have two options:
- Standard option
- Open your options, go to the “Gameplay” tab and set the “Crossplay” setting to “Off”.
- Option if you cannot get into the game
- Press the “Win Key + R” keys simultaneously
- Enter the following: %userprofile%/appdata/roaming/arrowhead/helldivers2
- Right-click on: user_settings.config
- Select: openwith
- Select: Notepad
- Scroll to the bottom until you reach “initial_setup_completed = true”
- Change “true” to “false”
- Save the file now with “Ctrl + S” keys
Note that the second option manipulates your data. According to Reddit user Latter_Stress, players should not be banned after performing the trick. However, we advise caution, as you are making changes to the data with this method. We take no responsibility should you get banned for this.
Helldivers 2: Disable crossplay on PS5
To disable crossplay on PS5, you only have one option:
Standard option
- Open your options, go to the “Gameplay” tab and set the “Crossplay” setting to “Off”.
There is no way to disable crossplay outside of the game on PS5.
What is the advantage of crossplay? When you play with crossplay in Helldivers 2, you will be matched with PC and PS5 players in the player search. This allows you to reach a much larger group of different players.
The only disadvantage you have when playing with a PC player as a console player is the enemy difficulty. Fans have discovered that players who play with a PC host encounter much stronger enemies than players in a console lobby.
Is there cross-progression? Currently, players cannot transfer their content to other platforms. However, this feature will be introduced but will not be realized until later updates. When that will be is still unknown.
