Helldivers 2 shows the arrival of a new enemy faction, but according to Over-Earth, this is merely a consequence of a technician decomposing on electronic devices.
Why do players believe a new faction has arrived? In Helldivers 2, players were able to discover a new purple area on the galaxy map yesterday, which indicates the course of the galactic war.
On the galaxy map, you can see which sectors and planets are currently experiencing battles and start your missions there. Until recently, only the bugs in yellow and robots in red were displayed. There was no area in purple, and it has not been assigned to any faction so far.
Players now believe that the new third enemy faction is already here and is indicated by the new area in purple.

In the meantime, however, the area has disappeared from Helldivers 2, and a message from Over-Earth appeared in the game denying the arrival of new enemies. The commanders say it was just a system error caused by the decomposition of organic tissue – that is, a rotting corpse.
A technician was to blame for getting lost in the server farm. The damaged electronics have now been replaced, and the family of the deceased had to pay for the damage caused.
Whether and when the Illuminated will actively intervene in the galactic war remains to be seen.
A symbol indicates: The Illuminated are coming
What kind of third faction is expected? Players of Helldivers 2 have suspected for months that the upcoming third faction would be the Illuminated. The Illuminated are a highly advanced extraterrestrial civilization that was already an enemy of Over-Earth in Helldivers 1.
The players’ suspicion now seems to have been confirmed, as the new purple area on the galaxy map in the game had the same symbol next to the sector name as the Illuminated in Helldivers 1.
In recent months, there have been repeated hints about the new enemies as well as leaks showing what the Illuminated look like in Helldivers 2.
In addition to the Illuminated, cyborgs are also a candidate for the upcoming fourth enemy faction. On the galaxy map, there is room for another faction besides the bugs, robots, and Illuminated.
Cyborgs were also an enemy faction in Helldivers 1, consisting of former humans who augmented their bodies with cybernetic enhancements and started a rebellion against Over-Earth.
In Helldivers 2, some players suspected that the cyborgs are the masters of the robots and created them. The idea was: The robots want to reach the planet Cyberstan because that was the home planet of the cyborgs: Players of Helldivers 2 believe they have discovered the goal of the robots – and it is not Over-Earth
