If you copy a specific minion in Hearthstone often enough, current decks hardly stand a chance. Weasel Madness in the latest Priest troll deck of Hearthstone.
The current expansion Kobolds and Catacombs of Hearthstone was released a few weeks ago and the dust has slowly settled. The “usual suspects” have found their way to the top of the rankings and the meta decks of the current season are established.
Breaking out of the three to four established decks is hardly possible. Or is it?
Weasel – from junk card to superstar in the latest Priest deck
Now a streamer has developed a new deck that relies on a rather old card that no one ever thought would be powerful – the Weasel.
The Weasel (Weasel Tunnel) is basically a very simple card. For 1 mana, it has weak stats of 1/1 and the deathrattle effect: Shuffle this minion into the opponent’s deck.
The troll deck now adds many effects that allow the Weasel to be copied and resurrected. The Man-Eating Cube kills the Weasel and creates two additional copies upon its own death. Minions like Illusionist or Herald Volazj summon additional copies of the Cube, which in turn each create two Weasels.
The goal behind this strategy is clear: To flood the opponent’s deck with so many Weasels, that the opponent can rarely play useful cards because their hand is full of Weasels.
To prevent the deck from losing in the early rounds, the quest “Awaken the Creators” is included, which allows Anduin’s health points to be reset back to 40. This allows the match to be dragged out early on until the Weasel army comes into play.
Typical of a Priest, the deck deals quickly with the opponent’s remaining cards – ideally, they are simply stolen and added to the own deck or mixed under the Weasels using Psychic Scream.
That the deck can work even when some mistakes are made is demonstrated by the streamer and creator of the deck Savjz in a video. Although he almost conceded the match prematurely, he manages to counter the initially superior Warlock.
