Some cards from Knights of the Frozen Throne have already been shown by the Hearthstone developers. We reveal what to expect!
Last night, Blizzard introduced the next expansion of Hearthstone, “Knights of the Frozen Throne”. The idea behind this expansion is that all heroes die in the battle against the Lich King and gain the power of the undead.
During the presentation, the first cards were introduced to give a small preview of the 135 new cards coming with Knights of the Frozen Throne.
Paladins get the Chillblade Champion, a 4-mana minion with low stats of 3/2. However, it has Rush and Lifesteal. This means that every time it deals damage, it heals the same amount of health from its owner’s hero.
The Shallow Gravedigger (or rather “the”) is a neutral minion for 3 mana with stats of 3/1. Additionally, it has a Deathrattle effect that gives a random Deathrattle minion to the player’s hand.
Prince Keleseth is also a neutral minion, but of legendary quality. While it costs 2 mana for stats of 2/2, it comes with a very powerful Battlecry: If the deck contains no cards with a cost of “2”, then all minions in the deck gain +1/+1.
A spell was also introduced for priests. The spell Spirit Lash costs 2 mana and deals 1 damage to all minions on the board. Additionally, the spell has Lifesteal – the damage dealt will heal the priest! With spell power, it effectively cleanses a board and fully heals the own hero at the same time.
Deathstalker Rexxar is a new card type, namely a hero card. When played for 6 mana, the own hero is replaced by the Deathstalker. This grants the hero 5 additional armor and executes the Battlecry “Deal 2 damage to all enemy minions”. Additionally, the hunter gains a new hero power “Build-a-beast”. For 2 mana, the player acts as a beast creator and is presented with 3 random beasts. They choose one of them. Then 3 more beasts are displayed and they choose one again. This creates a “Zombiest” – a new beast that combines all stats, card texts, and mana costs of the two minions!
More cards will be introduced in a few weeks. We can expect more information starting July 24.
