Blizzard has announced the release date for Whispers of the Old Gods, the next expansion for Hearthstone.
It’s not a surprise: The date was spoiled due to a technical error or oversight two weeks ago and has now been officially confirmed: The Hearthstone expansion will be released in Europe, including Germany, on April 26.
134 cards have been announced, 71 are already known. A good portion of the remaining cards is expected to be revealed during a live stream later this week. With the new card pack for “Whispers of the Old Gods”, the announced format change to Standard and Wild will also take place.
A nerf for some “classics” like King Krush, Leper Gnome, Knife Juggler, or the Ironbeak Owl is also to be expected.
By the way: While it will be released in North America and Europe on April 26, the expansion will go live in Asia on April 27.
Blizzard has had quite a rough time lately with announcing release dates and secrets. At the last Blizzcon, things went wrong when pre-order pages for World of Warcraft and Overwatch went live before the actual announcements. The release date of Overwatch was also not announced by them, but rather by a US gaming website through prematurely placed ads.
