In Blizzard’s card game Hearthstone , the new expansion “The League of Explorers” will begin this Thursday.
Update: Yesterday, the European Blizzard sites were down, but they are back up now. The adventure starts in Germany on November 13. The prices for the expansion are now clear.
Things are moving quickly in Hearthstone, with the “first wing” of the new expansion opening this Thursday. The adventure is themed “The League of Explorers.”
4 explorers: Brann Bronzebeard, Reno Jackson, Elise Starseeker, and Sir Finley Mrrgglton will be at the center of this adventure and will also appear as playable cards.
Elise Starseeker has already been introduced. She is a 4-mana minion with 3/5 stats that shuffles a 2-mana card into the deck. This 2-mana card then shuffles a 4-mana minion with Taunt and 6/6 stats into the deck. When the “Golden Monkey” is finally found and played, all minions in the player’s hand and deck become legendary minions.
A newly introduced mechanic, a fresh keyword, is “Discover.” Through it, Hearthstone players can choose one out of 3 cards with the same mana cost. They then receive that card in their hand. The three cards available for selection are tailored to fit the player’s deck.
This time, the adventure seems to be less about defeating “bosses,” and more about experiencing adventures together with the 4 members of the League of Explorers. In the first wing on Thursday, November 12, players will help Reno Jackson escape from a collapsing temple. If successful, they will earn him as a “legendary card.”
As with the last adventures, players will earn new class cards in class challenges.
There will be four wings, and the prices seem to be aligned with previous adventures. There are 4 wings, each costing 700 gold to open or $6.99. If players buy the League of Explorers in a bundle, they pay $20. The Euro prices are still unknown at this hour but are expected to be quite similar.
