In the upcoming Witchwood expansion of Hearthstone, there’s a feature that Hearthstone fans have been waiting for years. You can finally lend your decks to other players – but only so they can play against you.
Digital card games like Hearthstone have many advantages over physical versions. The only downside is that until now, players could only play with their own cards in Hearthstone. If you wanted to test your own deck or show new players what the game has to offer, it simply was not possible in Hearthstone.
Therefore, players have been wishing for such a lending feature for years.
Borrow and try decks
In a livestream about the Witchwood update, Ben Brode and Day9 not only showcased the new cards. A tiny detail stood out: A button in the match selection called “Borrow Deck”.
With this, you can view your opponent’s decks in a friendly 1vs1 duel and borrow one to play with. As long as your opponent allows it! This lending function has several advantages:
- You can see if your own decks are good or try out specific counter and defense tactics.
- You can set yourself certain challenges by facing your own supposedly unbeatable deck.
- You can introduce new players optimally to the game or motivate former fans to return: “Look at all the awesome new cards that are out now!”
Fans are happy about the deck lending feature
The community received the new feature well. Many players have long wished for such a function. Therefore, Hearthstone fans are even more excited for April 12, 2018, as that is when the Witchwood expansion with the new deck lending feature will be released.
