Hearthstone has a new game mode that is currently available only to selected players. We will tell you how you can join.
One of the smaller surprises at BlizzCon 2019 was a new game mode for Hearthstone. The mode, called “Battlegrounds,” is strongly based on the currently successful “Auto Chess” genre, so games like Teamfight Tactics or DOTA Underlords. Similar to these games, you buy units, place them on the battlefield, and upgrade them gradually – just in typical Hearthstone fashion.
But how can you join?
This is how you gain access to Hearthstone: Battlegrounds: Basically, there is the option to “buy into the beta.” You need to have purchased one of two things:
- Virtual ticket for BlizzCon (€40)
- A pre-order package of “Legacy of the Dragons” (60 packs for €50 or 100 packs for €80)
Is it possible to join without spending money? Yes, that is also possible. In addition to the two paid options, there is the possibility to gain access to the beta on Twitch. You need to link your Battle.net account with Twitch and then watch streamers in the “Hearthstone” category. As a possible Twitch drop, there is the beta access for your account.
How long will the beta test run? Since last night (November 5) until November 12, the closed beta test for Hearthstone Battlegrounds is running. So you have just under a week to have fun in the mode and gain your first experiences with this game mode. Shortly after, an open beta is expected to follow. So if you can wait a bit, you can just hold off.
Have you already checked out “Battlegrounds”? How do you like the mode? Is it fun, or is it more of a flop?
