A dispute between two of the biggest YouTubers is currently fueling social media, especially Twitter. The Irish gaming YouTuber Jacksepticeye has made sharp criticism of YouTube mogul MrBeast during a lie detector test. He stated that MrBeast has ruined YouTube. According to him, YouTube is now only about views and money, no longer about fun.
This is how the dispute started:
- The YouTuber Sean “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin is seen in a 43-second clip, where he is connected to some sort of lie detector and answers questions from TommyInit.
- Ultimately, he says in the clip: MrBeast has ruined YouTube. Because of him, everything on the video platform revolves only around popularity, money, and views and no longer about having fun. If MrBeast really enjoyed his videos, they would be longer.
- This short clip has already received 12.7 million views on Twitter and sparked a heated debate.
In Germany, “Gronkh” holds the same status that Jacksepticeye enjoys in the English-speaking internet, as “the Let’s Player”:
“Incredibly disrespectful”
This is how MrBeast responded: He defends himself against the accusation of ruining YouTube. MrBeast says: He doesn’t buy a villa or an expensive sports car with his money like others do, but reinvests it back into content and thereby inspires children to help others.
The statement “If he enjoyed it, the videos would be longer” is not accepted by MrBeast. He says, he wouldn’t spend every free second of his life over the past 14 years on it if it wasn’t enjoyable for him.
He calls the behavior of the gaming YouTuber “incredibly disrespectful.”
MrBeast says he could certainly criticize Jacksepticeye’s content as well, but wants to be the bigger man here.

But Jacksepticeye is also criticized. Podcaster Ethan Klein says the Irishman has fueled his career by uploading two Let’s Plays a day. This is surely not done just for fun, but has also financial intentions behind it.
