Over the weekend, the finals of the 2024 World Championship in Fortnite, the Grand Finals of the FNCS Global, were played. The prize pool was 2 million $. The star of Fortnite, Twitch streamer Cody “Clix” Conrod, finished only eleventh and had to endure a lot of comments. This is because he previously called a colleague on Twitch “too old.”
What kind of tournament was that? The Grand Finals of the FNCS is the World Championship of Fortnite:
- The World Championship took place on September 7 and 8 in Fort Worth. The prize money was 2 million US dollars.
- 50 duos played 6 matches against each other over 2 days. They qualified for the World Championship through national tournaments.
- In the end, the players who survived the longest and scored the most eliminations according to a points system won.
Clix doesn’t hold back on anything:
17-Year-Old and 16-Year-Old Become World Champions
Who won the World Championship in Fortnite 2024? The winners were 17-year-old American PeterBot and 16-year-old Mexican Pollo. They share $400,000 in prize money.
Twitch star Clix (20) and his partner Veno finished only eleventh, earning $24,000 in prize money.
A German duo consisting of rezon ay (the one with the water damage) and Vadeal came in 18th place and received $20,000. Vadeal is, according to NoWay, the strongest German Twitch streamer overall.
Twitch Streamer Relentlessly Rides the “Too Old Clix” – Calls him a Boomer
Here’s the mean part: The 20-year-old Clix had to endure comments from Twitch streamer NickEh30, who co-streamed the tournament on Twitch, saying that he belongs to the old guard now.
Although NickEh is also 29 years old, he relentlessly critiqued Clix’s (20) age. He claimed that Clix appeared ancient compared to the 17-year-old PeterBot:
“This really shows that Clix has gotten old. When you see someone like him [PeterBot], you realize just how much Clix has become an old boomer. How old is he now? 20? -. That’s crazy. It’s such a different way of playing, so much faster, so much more attentive.
Clix is 29 in Fortnite years. He is an uncle, an old man, no wonder he can’t make it into the top 10 in Fortnite anymore. Uncle is a Zoomer-Boomer.”
Why is he doing this? NickEh says Clix made fun of him and his age when they played together and called him old. Although Clix apologized for this, it wasn’t enough for NickEh. Therefore, he wanted to clarify a few facts now.
Clix has apparently matured a lot in recent years and handles things more confidently as an older individual. In May 2023, we reported on how he struggled to cope with a ban: Fortnite bans the largest Twitch streamer (18) – He says: He trembles, has withdrawal symptoms, can barely breathe.
