Position 8: Igor Karkaroff
For six years, Igor Karkaroff wreaked havoc as a Death Eater before being captured by none other than the notorious Auror Mad-Eye Moody. To regain his freedom, he betrayed some of his former Death Eater colleagues to the Ministry.
He then became the headmaster at the wizarding school Durmstrang – a position that no untalented wizard would obtain.
After Voldemort’s return, he refused to return to his old master and fled. Even though he was ultimately found and killed by Death Eaters, he managed to survive longer than many would have thought possible.
Position 7: Augustus Rookwood
Augustus Rookwood worked for a long time in the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry and spied for Voldemort there. This was particularly valuable as the Department of Mysteries is typically under strict secrecy.
But Rookwood was not just an important ally for Voldemort as a spy. He was also an excellent fighter. He could take on the Auror Kingsley Shacklebolt and is also responsible for the death of Fred Weasley.
Position 6: Thorfinn Rowle
Rowle was one of Voldemort’s best and most feared fighters, especially in the books. During the infiltration of Hogwarts in the sixth part, he managed to hold his own against Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks at the same time.
He was also one of the Death Eaters who were meant to catch Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the Muggle café. Here too, he was able to hold his own against multiple opponents and was only overwhelmed because he was surprised by Harry under the Invisibility Cloak.
Rowle is one of the few Death Eaters who could ever cast an effective spell against Hagrid. Due to Hagrid’s giant blood, most spells just bounce off him. But Rowle managed to use a Silencing Charm against him.
