The open beta of GWENT is live on PC, PS4, and Xbox One! We will tell you how to jump right into playing: Here is the download for GWENT.
Fans of Witcher 3 – Wild Hunt had to wait long until the addictive mini-game Gwent got its own spin-off. Now it’s finally happening, and the card game from CD Projekt RED is launching into open beta!
In time for the release, the developers have now released a new cinematic, showing Ciri and Geralt enjoying a cheerful round of Gwent. They are not held back by anyone.
Gwent plays differently than collectible card games like Magic or Hearthstone. There are no life points; instead, each match is about winning two out of three turns. The winner is determined by who has the more effective army on their board. Once a turn is won, all cards are removed. Thus, much strategy is needed to avoid wasting everything in the first round. Only those who plan well will be able to maintain the upper hand in most rounds.
The usual “card effects” are still present – hero cards can disable other cards, weather effects can neutralize siege weapons, and special followers can trigger further statuses.
Easy registration for GWENT & download on PC, PS4, and Xbox One
For the PC, registration at gog.com is required, the preferred platform of CD Projekt RED. After that, you can download the game for free there.
On PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, you only need to access your console’s store and search for “GWENT: The Witcher Card Game”. There, you can download the game for free and start playing right after.
At the start of the beta, all players’ progress was reset. As is common in card games, you can also purchase additional card packs with real money in Witcher.
By the way, there will also be a story campaign in the future…
The professional Hearthstone player Lifecoach has already switched to GWENT.
