The first expansion for the fantasy MMORPG Guild Wars 2, Heart of Thorns, still doesn’t have an official release date, but it should be coming soon.
In the presentation for the GW2 add-on Heart of Thorns, nothing was missing except a concrete date. In ArenaNet’s typical fashion, they didn’t want to give any dates until they were 100% sure. However, it seems it won’t be long now.
In an interview after the event with the US magazine Polygon, Guild Wars Game Director Colin Johanson said: “We waited until the announcement until things took shape, from here it will move quickly.“
In six weeks at PAX East in Boston, on March 6, there will already be a playable demo of Heart of Thorns.
Shortly after, ArenaNet plans to invite players to a beta test. According to Johanson, it’s mainly about finding out whether they have laid a solid foundation to build upon later:
It’s going to get released when beta testing says it’s ready to get released. We want to involve our players in that. It’ll be a process of beta testing the game and making sure that this fundamental groundwork that we’re laying is the groundwork that we want to build on top of growing forward.
The expansion Heart of Thorns will be released when the beta test shows that the add-on is ready for release.
