ArenaNet has made it clear multiple times that the beta weekends of Guild Wars 2 are much more than just a pure PR stunt. Unlike many other game studios that use their beta tests only as advertising campaigns or stress tests, the developers behind Heart of Thorns want to listen to the feedback from the player community. Those who have secured access to the beta weekends can check out the content of the first expansion starting from September 4. Besides the first chapter of the story, friends of hearty PvP matches can once again throw themselves into the fortress mode and take castles from each other.
While the beta weekends are limited in duration and scope, they do not want to take away the players’ anticipation or reveal all the secrets too early. Instead, the focus is on a “general understanding of how everything works and feels.”
