The Asura is out of the bag! With “Visions of Eternity”, the new expansion for Guild Wars 2 is coming soon. And it comes with at least one new elite specialization that you’ve been wanting for a long time. What else you can look forward to, you can read here.
Which elite specialization can you look forward to? The developers at ArenaNet and publisher NCSoft revealed on July 15, 2025, the latest expansion for their MMORPG Guild Wars 2 with “Visions of Eternity”. It will be released on October 28, 2025, and brings you a new elite specialization for each of the 9 available classes.
Previously, the developers had fueled speculation in the community with “cryptic” posts via x.com. On June 30, 2025, for example, a logo featuring a lute was shared with the inscription “15 days…”. At that time, fans suspected that the new expansion would bring at least one new specialization, if not a completely new class for players: the Bard (see Reddit).
Now, 15 days later, it’s official: Visions of Eternity brings you a bard-like subclass for the Mesmer, as you can admire in the announcement trailer:
Furthermore, the trailer gives a rough insight into what to expect in the expansion. Although it’s not yet clear who will receive which specialization and what they will be called or how they will function, it is already clear that the developers will be addressing long-standing wishes of the community (see Reddit).

What does Visions of Eternity bring? Besides the 9 new elite specializations, you can look forward to a new island with 2 completely fresh maps/areas: Castora.
The new story begins with rumors of an island sung about by the sailors of Tyria, rich in magic and ley energy. And what the Inquest has to do with all of this – well, you will have to find out in October.

Additionally, you will have the option to settle your homestead on the coast of the island. With that, new possibilities for storing, copying, sharing, and moving your home will also be introduced.
Your trusty skimmer will also receive an upgrade, allowing you to look forward to new abilities and mastery paths. Furthermore, later updates will also introduce new raids and group content for 10 players. Of course, new legendary items will not be missing.
What will be missing this time, however, are new weapon types. While with Janthir Wilds the spear was added as a weapon, this time it stays with the new specializations. However, all 9 available classes are receiving an upgrade for you to enjoy.
